Lower & Upper Elementary

The Elementary environment offers a curriculum based on the needs of the children. This includes Cosmic Education which incorporates Mathematics and Geometry, Language, Art, Biology, Zoology, Geography, History and Science.

Our aim is to create a secure and nurturing environment, enabling intellectual, social, moral, creative and physical learning and development to take place. This is done with the aid of The Albanesi Montessori Curriculum Resource Cards, incorporating Montessori materials which take the child from a concrete to an abstract understanding of concepts. Through careful observation, the Montessori Directress follows the individual interests and needs of the child, providing lessons and guidance when necessary. Classes are multi-aged, therefore supporting the developmental needs of the child.

During the elementary years, children need freedom to express their strong imaginations, their reasoning minds, their moral awareness and their urge to sociability. As they engage these faculties to explore and order their world, they develop their decision-making skills and nurture their own independence. The balance of freedom and responsibility is introduced to the children in the classroom environment. There can be no real independence without the willingness to accept responsibility, whether in the community called family, home, school, or the world.

Cooperative learning is encouraged through peer teaching and social interaction.

Please ask for the Aftercare policy document if you wish to enrol your child. Aftercare Fees are paid directly to the aftercare teachers and NOT into the school account.
