“Play is the work of the child” Maria Montessori

Catering for toddlers and 3 – 6 year olds in two separate environments, carefully prepared according to tried-and-tested Montessori guidelines, the “Casa dei Bambini” or “Children’s House” is a peaceful, happy place where children “construct themselves” through self-directed, purposeful play. Exploring through the senses and working with specific Montessori equipment in a 3-year mixed age group setting, ours is a rich environment, designed to stimulate curiousity and create a life-long love of learning. With consistent, positive reinforcement, gentle encouragement and freedom within clear boundaries, each child develops holistically and joyfully, learning at their own pace and absorbing many vital future life-skills – respect (for self, others and the world around us), creative-thinking, co-operation, collaboration, self-discipline and independence.

“They (children of the first plane) have already absorbed the immediate environment and the restricted society they and their families have dealings with. You must try to give the child what he now longs for: the understanding of the world, how it functions and how it affects the life and behavior of humanity.” (Maria Montessori, To Educate the Human Potential.)

Divided into junior (6-9) and senior (9 – 12) mixed age-groupings, the Primary school delivers a holistic curriculum based on Montessori’s 5 Great Stories, what she called “Cosmic Education”, or a Curriculum for Peace.

Why Montessori…

The Montessori Method

The Montessori Method of teaching aims for the fullest possible development of the whole child, physically, socially,  emotionally,  intellectually  and  spiritually.  Ultimately  preparing  them  for  life's many rich experiences and challenges. Montessori develops the true potential of each individual child.

Our enriched Montessori environment encourages…

Independence, freedom (within limits), responsibility, self esteem, confidence, self discipline and self motivation.

SUCCESSFUL PARENTS understand that THE KEY TO ENSURING that THEIR CHILDREN ACHIEVE LEARNING is THEIR OWN INVOLVEMENT in THEIR CHILD’S LIFE… an interest in their development, participation in their education and loving fair and responsible boundaries.

We encourage a learning triangle of

CHILD, PARENT, TEACHER
in order to help the child maximise their growth and development.
